Tick and Also Tock

Note: From here on out the “Food” section will be from the day before (so today, this is what I ate Wednesday more or less) and the “Life” and “Fitness” sections will be from the day that the post is published (so today, this is what happened today). This will help me in getting my posts up in a more timely manner and I hope will allow me to do the majority of my posts ahead of time.

At long last, I was able to finally have another coveted OIAJ for breakfast this morning! It had been far too long.

Oatbran, vanilla protein powder, flaxseed meal, chia seeds, scoop of pumpkin, cinnamon, and almond-vanilla granola in an almost-empty crunchy almond butter jar. It was this close to not fitting. And mixing was teetering on the edge of dangerous.

Lunch was a salad and I tried making a high-protein pineapple upside-down cake. Even though I followed the recipe, it really didn’t turn out that well, so I’ll just post the picture and let the recipe go un-posted. I only post recipes that I have actually made and LIKE. Quality over quantity, right?

After I ran my errands around town, I came home and got some goodies in the mail! I had won a giveaway from some vegan/GF cookies from Liz Lovely. Since it was about time for a snack anyway, I of course dug in! Seriously, this chocolate chip cookie may have changed my life. It had the perfect texture and tasted exactly like cookie dough. There are 2 very large cookies to a pack, so it’s like having 4 cookies. Know what that means? I get 3 more cookies to eat! Haha, or share, I guess (don’t worry, I shared with my boyfriend; I swear that I learned how to share in kindergarten). “Joey doesn’t share food!

And a smoothie for dinner since it was just so dang hot in my house today. We haven’t switched on the AC yet, so there may be several SIABs (Smoothies in a Bowl) in the next few days. Today was a Chocolate-Cherry Green Monster, but I didn’t really dig it so much. There didn’t really seem to be any taste to it, which was disappointing, but at least it was cold and that was my #1 concern.

I ran out of books to read! I know that my summer classes start on Monday, but until then I seem to have nothing to do and I used to read in my free-time. Now I actually have some time and I have nothing to fill it with. I don’t know if I want to go out and buy a book and then not be able to finish it in time for me to start needing to read my textbooks (which still haven’t even been processed; how long should it take if we’re in the exact same city!?) for class.

We’re getting our AC/Heating unit replaced, so the house will be kind of a mess today and tomorrow. Plus having strange people in my house for hours; it just makes me feel uncomfortable to have people I don’t know around my house, always has. If I’m in a public place, no problem. Just something about the fact that this is your house, a normally private place, I guess.

I’ve been getting up even earlier than usual this week, even though this is supposed to be my only week of “summer” until August, since I don’t want my body to get used to waking up late. With 8am classes 4 days a week starting on Monday, I can’t afford to be screwing up my body clock like that. Because when my body clock gets messed up, it really is a mess that takes forever to set right. (Body clock as in circadian clock, not my biological clock! Haha.)

Boyfriend did indeed get his summer internship and starts on Monday. Meaning that he has to move this weekend into his new apartment about an hour and a half away. I think that for the next few months you’re going to read a lot of complaints from me about not having a car. Apologies in advance! I’ll try to keep it to a minimum.

Mile 1: 8:35
Mile 2: 8:25
Mile 3: 8:08
Mile 4: 8:11
Total: 33:20

Note: 70deg weather not conducive to a positive attitude while running. Heat = slow. Hurray for a rest day tomorrow! This has been my toughest training week yet and Saturday will give me another PDR (9 miles). Hoping that it will go well. Wish me luck!

Would you run outside if there were “scattered/isolated thunderstorms” in the forecast?

Random thought/question: Why do some women put on makeup to work out? Wouldn’t you just sweat it off?

  1. I find that most cherry-flavored smoothies that I make really lack the cherry flavor and it’s really hard to detect. =\ Some almond extract helps, but it feels like cheating, haha.

And I would only go out and run with those conditions if the sky looked relatively decent at the moment. 😉

  2. I think those are the ladies who go to the gym to pick up men. 😀
I don’t wear much makeup.. usually just foundation, but if I’m working out in the middle of the day, I don’t remove it.
